Blog post#6

 Blog Post 6

I decided to use my high school. I went to Santa Fe high school in Alachua, which is basically Gainesville. The high school includes grades 9-12, with a couple of 8th graders who take Spanish classes or a part of the marching band. The information you see on the website are the schools calendar and activities, sports team announcements, the faculty and staffs contact information, the schools magnet programs, and different tabs to take you to student services. You don't really need a log in to see stuff on the school website, but there is a link that takes you to campus portal that both the parents and students need to access grades, and transcripts.

My major goal for using technology in my classroom would be be for me to have mastered using Microsoft office before or any other technology I want to use before teaching my students to use it. I think being a new teacher it would be helpful for me to see blogs, twitter accounts, or diigo from previous teachers so they can give me some information and help me get ideas for my class room. I think attending a webinar would help me because I could interact with teachers anywhere and share information or gain feedback. chapter 7 showed me a variety of technology I could use for my teacher self. It would be helpful to have software in my class that basically will support my every need. I could design website, write notes to parents, design a grade book, and use social media and mobile apps to communicate with parents, students, and other teachers. However I am not so sure about social media with my students, because at my high schools, teachers couldn't befriend students on social media unless they were related or coaches.

My favorite tool from the tool box was definitely the 3D printer and pen. I love to draw so I just thought it was really cool to be able to turn my drawing into 3D figures. I think 3D printing could be used for all kind of things. You could decorate your classroom with the things you create. You can print out shapes and animals to use in your lesson plans while you teach. I think it would also be cool for the students to be able to create things that they can print so they can take them home and show there parents or keep their work. I think having smart boards are great for classrooms. Some teachers still use chalk boards or dry erase boards , but smart boards are so much more fun. I loved playing games against my peers and getting to use an interactive board when I was in school so i think students would find the things you could do on a smart board way more interesting, since technology is so big in education now.

  1. I really enjoyed the 3D printer and pen also! There are so many cool objects you can create to enhance your teaching.

  2. The first website I visited for the class pages was my High School as well, but my High School did not have specific pages for a particular grade level and class subject, so I just found a random school online that did.

  3. You have a really nice and updated website, I was going to use my middle school but decided against it because they are pretty out of date. Its cool that they let younger students join in the performing arts they did that at my school too and it really does help a student when they are surrounded by peers at a higher performing level or similar.

  4. I love your new blog background, it's beautiful! Also, I like to draw too, and I think it could be useful for us as future teachers. I bet, as far as hobbies go, the 3D printer can be useful too: I know you like makeup, so I bet makeup artists in the future will print out model heads to practice on. Do you have a youtube channel?
